One-Line Bio

I am a specialist in helping technology companies (particularly software companies) develop and improve their business strategies.

Biography

KiteBlue Limited is the company through which Jyoti Banerjee does his consulting work. Jyoti specialises in creating and driving new strategic initiatives in technology companies, as much of his experience over nearly twenty years of industry participation has been in business application software.

Some of Jyoti's noteworthy clients (since 1991) have included leading application software providers such as Microsoft, SAP, JD Edwards, Coda and PeopleSoft. In this area, he has helped companies such as Navision, Exact and Great Plains build UK market entry strategies. Jyoti also co-founded the leading software business titles: Computers & Finance, Customer Strategy, and eB-21.

Since 2009, Jyoti has added an extra element of focus: corporate responsibility. In this context, he has helped Trucost, the holder of the world's largest database on corporate environmental impacts, create a new business strategy. He is keen to see environmental information used by business managers in their day-to-day processes, and believes that software is the route to enable this to happen.

Jyoti is involved in a venture fund that has invested in over thirty medium-sized businesses that are committed to ethical practice - all these investments are in third-world, emerging markets settings. And he is on the board of Interserve, an international faith-based charitable organisation where he has plenty of exposure to the Carver Policy Governance Model.

Since the summer of 2005, Jyoti has researched the performance of mid-sized organisations. As a result of the research, Jyoti co-founded M Institute, a resource for leaders of mid-sized organisations, with his colleague Paul Druckman.

Jyoti's most recent start-up is Fronesys, a company specialising in sustainability advisory services. Jyoti is a partner at Fronesys, and is working with a top-flight crew of world specialists in this hot area. Find out more about Fronesys - the word is from the Greek and means practical wisdom.

Jyoti has been involved in training dozens of software entrepreneurs running start-up businesses. In this context, KiteBlue is a network partner in Microsoft's BizSpark programme which aims to help software start-ups. Network partners provide support to start-up organisations.

Jyoti has worked with Gerd Kortuem to develop an MBA elective course on Software Entrepreneurship at Said Business School, University of Oxford. The course was first run in 2012 and is being repeated in 2013.
